Dan-Gulf Bike team in the ADA Tour

Released: June 14, 2012

We just want to thank you for supporting the Dan-Gulf Bike team in the ADA Tour which took place April 21st.  We had a total of 13 riders this year, including Mr. Lowell Stewart, who opted for the shortest adult route of 25 miles along with Mr. Joe Zehner who proceeded to the closest bench, took a one hour nap, and returned to the finish line where his proud wife was waiting and congratulating him for his accomplishment.  For the records Mr. Zehner did do all 25 miles though, or at least so he says.

There were 2 riders from our team who did the 100 miler, and the rest did the 50 miler including Mareike who rode with a broken foot, but she finished in fine style with the rest of the guys on our team.

It was a rather windy day, so we got a little bit of everything, cross winds, tail and head winds and we had plenty of hills out there, but a good day in the saddle for all and no crashes on our team.  In total there were 450 riders and total collected for the Diabetes tour this year in Mandeville, LA. was 135K.

With your help our team managed to raise about 11K, and from looking at the ADA website that was the most money raised by a single team, and we could not have done so without your generous donations, so for that we are very thankful.

We have attached some pictures of the Dan-Gulf Dream Team from the event for your entertainment.
